Southern Palms Beach Resort Diani Beach Kenya review:Southern Palms is situated on the beautiful white sandy shores of the Indian Ocean at Diani Beach, 35 km south of Mombasa. Property spreads over 10 acres of mature tropical gardens and coconut palms. 300 air conditioned rooms and 2 Luxury suites, 4 restaurants. 2 free-form swimming pools, probably the largest in East Africa. The hotel is rated as a 4*. Everything about this hotel is a 4* apart from the rooms which I would say are a good 3*. The rooms are very clean and comfortable just maybe a bit dated. the hotel grounds, pool, restaurants and food were all amazing and all the staff are polite and helpful. They will go out of their way to help you. The beach is right on your doorstep and the evening entertainment is good. A lovely hotel with a lovely beach. The rooms were prepared daily and the maids were always very corteous, and if you left any small change, they would leave you a small chocolate! Cleanliness througout was fairly high, even by Kenyan standards, and when our party was unwell, they were very careful make sure we were kept away from other guests to avoid an outbreak of something! Swimming pools looked good on first impressions and showed clean tiles We went all inclusive to find that we had to sign for every drink and all meals included in the package that were not eaten in the main restaurant. This in turn made waiter service very slow. There appeared to be a staff shortage. They frequently could not serve you the beverage that you ordered. Tea and coffee facility in your room was a joke. We practically had to beg for these items. A very good hotel in a fabulous setting on the beach. The rooms were a very good size and the traditional beds were very comfy, and had good views over the pool. I liked the security on the beach so if you went for a walk no one would bother you. The food was very good with a good selection. This beachfront hotel is as exotic as they come. Set alongside a strip of snow-white sands and surrounded by acres of tropical gardens, it's got a real castaway vibe. And at the heart of it all you'll find a first class pool scene. The two lagoon-like pools that snake their way through the grounds are huge. They both come framed by spacious sun terraces, too, so there's plenty of space to chill out. And when you want to swap sun terrace for sand, it couldn't be easier - just follow the palm-lined path down to the beach. As for the hotel itself, it's every bit as impressive as its grounds. Very Nice hotel, lovely and clean apart from our room's bathroom. Gorgeous swimming pool and a really nice beach. The staff are really friendly and couldnt do enough to help you. The entertainment wasnt what we would expect of an all inclusive resort, there were alot of sport events during the day but only 2 hours of entertainment at night if that... of which the majority wasnt that good and they played alot of 80's music! That was the only real down fall... Overall a really nice hotel and wouldnt deffinetaly go again. A most excellent hotel, at which the entire family had a great time. No place in the world like it, truely unique. Reviews of resorts and places in Kenya |
