Set in twenty three acres high in the Blue Mountains, one can only say the view is absolutely breathtaking on a clear day. For location only this is a 5 star hotel, though falls in the 3 star category. Thats not to say theres anything wrong with it, just the opposite as if the views are not enough theres the infinity pool - absolutely wonderful.There are many rooms to choose from including studio suites or cottages, one and two bedroom villas or two bedroom cottage. Theres a restaraunt on site serving a selection of great tasting local dishes and on a Sunday, brunch is a big attraction for guests, local residents and visitors.

This is not your cement style hotel complex, such would be out of keeping with the location. Instead the main hotel and individual chalets look more that you would find in a ski resort constructed in timber and slated roofs with verandas to maximise the view. The entire development nestles into the surrounding scenery perfectly and seems at one with the environment.

The one hour journey by car from Kingston airport is itself amazing once you pass Kingston and start heading 3000 feet up the Blue Mountains. The views en-route are astounding as you journey around over 300 bends. Or you could pay the extra and be flown by helicopter from the airport to Strawberry Hill. WOW!

On the downside and totally ignoring the wondrous location and stunning views, having read many reviews there is a general lack of quality, need of renovation and unhelpful responces to visitors requirements. Many complain that the price is too high for whats provided by the hotel. But despite all that, if you only had a hut to live in, to wake up and bathe in those beautifaul views and feel totally at peace with everything - how much is that worth??

Conclusion: Strawberry Hill is an exclusively unique experience. Yes it may be a little tired and basic in some ways and yes it may be a tad expensive compared to the luxury of some hotels. But they dont have this location. If your into relaxing, pure fresh air, views, countryside or trekking then Strawberry Hill is the place. And dont forget enjoying that famous locally grown Blue Mountain coffee they serve.
