"outstanding hotel.
Exceptional hotel, Decor & facilities are fantastic. Personnel are very friendly & efficient, This was my 2nd check out and I would absolutely visit once again. Unwinding place. Exceptional walks around the surrounding area."
" An excellent hotel with friendly personnel.
Excellent hotel with outstanding personnel. Food could be improved. Breakfast was predictable but great range.
Christmas eve celebration was expensive and a huge let down. In general an enjoyable experience however be cautioned the bars and restaurants are pricey and to see the island you will require a car. The hotel does use a bus service to Funchal."
" Great hotel with calm vibe and exceptional service
We had an absolute fantastic stay at Saccharum 1st to 10th Jan 2023. I had high expectations for the hotel ahead of time, however the hotel was even much better than what I imagined.
As we wanted a peaceful trips consisting of books and sun, we actually delighted in that there were great deals of different locations to unwind, such as the outdoor swimming pool, several outside bars, the indoor pool, or by the beach. The environment was constantly very chill and calm. And the design of the hotel is extremely cool, feels trendy and fancy, which is also due to the truth that both the room and common areas were constantly spick-and-span. Everything appeared very new (that make sense, I believe the hotel was integrated in 2015).
Another thing that stands apart was the staff, that was extremely friendly and courteous. It seems like a cliché, however I truly felt that the people working there always wanted to do their best for the guests to have a good, comfy and customised experience. So I want to provide great deals of creds to Saccharum for prioritizing this, it actually boosted the experience.
The breakfast buffet was nice and the venue (particularly outdoors) is really beautiful. We did not order the buffet for lunch and dinner, and wound up eating at the hotel for both meals daily anyway, at the numerous bars/restaurants. For us, that was the ideal option likewise in retrospection, as we had great deals of tasty meals and it was not really expensive either, but I think for households with small kids buffet is much easier. More significantly, we are extremely grateful for all of the personnel that were so kind and useful thinking about allergies. Traveling with food allergic reactions can be really hard, but at Saccharum they even registered it at our space number, so the personnel knew. In especially, Alambique, Trappiche and Al Fresco dining were extremely useful adjusting their dishes, thank you a lot! However, in general, I would still advise to always confirm with the personnel, there were some differences in how well they comprehended how to deal with allergies.
We went to the medspa one day, and I had a massage, which was very great, and the ambiance was really peaceful and comfy. We did not feel that we required health club access more days because we liked to remain outside, but I guess it is appealing if the weather is cloudy or windy.
Our space was extremely great, with partial sea view. We didn't invest too much time on the veranda, however the ocean was an amazing view. We did not have premium, so I can not truly state whether it's worth it or not. But what I can state is that we never felt that we missed anything, there was for example constantly free sunbeds or tables at the bar.
Last but not least, it was for us definitely the right option to stay at a hotel in Calheta and not Funchal. Calheta is actually calm, few cars, and primarily you hear the ocean and a river. I do not know if this holds true in general, but for the days we stayed in Calheta the weather were also much better there than in Funchal.
Summarized, we had a really wonderful time, which went way above our preliminary expectations! I certainly would suggest this hotel! And we are definitely returning!"
" Beautiful hotel with sensational architecture and modern-day surface. Wide choice of food for breakfast and perfect service. Great dining establishments. It is just pity that you have to pay extra for the SPA"
" Fantastic hotel.
Glad I requested a sea view, room 501 big veranda with stunning views.
The charm of this hotel is you remain in a lovely marina place with plenty of marine life/restaurants to check out however have the appeal of this spectacular hotel built in the natural routine of the island within its topology. Great architect and this hotel has a distinct style.
Have you ever stayed in a hotel and heard guests in the rooms above, next door and along the corridor, doors slamming all night? Well you wont here, the design mitigates the majority of sound.
The centers were excellent, we stayed over Christmas and truly enjoyed our remained.
A visit to the health club is a must, everyone is 20 euros which was. a little unexpected as we believed it belonged to the hotel centers however I can comprehend why they charge as it is beautiful. We were out everyday checking out the island so had little time to utilize it however we did use it as soon as on Boxing Day when the weather condition was cloudy/light rain.
My only negative is they supply a shuttle bus to Funchal and we utilized the drop off/collection service on xmas eve which was great, chauffeur very respectful and courteous. BUT ... it wasn't up until we took a look at we were notified that we had to pay for the service. I have never remained in a five star hotel before and had to pay for their shuttle bus service, I would have liked to have actually been informed when reserving the bus. Personally, I think this should be complimentary like other hotels worldwide.
I would absolutely go for a sea view as some of the internal guest rooms looked like they dealt with each other with limited views."
" Awesome trip, this hotel is great all around beginning with the staff, cleanness, food etc. Stunning location, nature is everywhere. We enjoyed taking field trip to visit both sides of the island, likewise went to Funchal. Christmas time, designs all over the place, it's simply the location for me. I am suggesting this hotel and place to all my friends."
