The Calheta Beach Hotel is located on the beachfront
on a distinct and delightful strip of the Madeira coastline and boasts the only spectacular golden sandy beach on the island. Far from the hectic city of Funchal, the Calheta Beach Hotel uses a truly relaxing and restoring ambience, allowing you to enjoy your holiday to the maximum.
Each room includes a beachy, modern-day style and comes well equipped with a bathroom, hairdryer, satellite television, minibar and air conditioning. All spaces benefit from a personal veranda offering rejuvenating views of the ocean or rolling mountainous hills. There are also some larger houses which provide kitchen area facilities.
The Calheta primary restaurant opens for breakfast, lunch and supper to serve a different selection of fresh buffet-style meals, with show cooking, a dessert buffet and a large option of rejuvenating beverages. For an unique reward, there is also an a la carte option. Throughout the day the Por-do-Sol pool bar serves a choice of drinks and snacks in consisting of pastries, sandwiches and hotdogs. " Excellent stay! We had an excellent and relaxing time at this award winnig hotel! The area is directly at the beach, there is a shuttle service taking you to Funchal and the personnel is attentive and friendly. Also the health spa area is an excellent possession which we enjoyed!"
" We have actually been several times now to this exceptional hotel in a great but quiet area by a harbour and secured sandy beach. About 35 minutes by coach (which the hotel operate) to Funchal for 20 euros return. The staff are very friendly and truly wish to assist you. Food is great and varied and the bar service and entertainments are effectively run. We stayed for New Year and were taken into to Funchal to see the NYE fireworks which were well worth seeing. There were a lot of available sun loungers and a big outdoors swimming pool (a bit bracing in winter season) and a warmer little indoor pool. Thank you to all the personnel that work so tough to assist us enjoy our stay! We will be back!"

" Relaxing stay
Every Christmas for the last few years my child and myself have actually come here. We like to unwind and unwind. There are activities to do in the hotel and around the location however we enjoy the solitude of the location, no rushing around it's all very peaceful. The personnel are all very handy from the concierge to the manager. The other staff are likewise extremely useful and nothing ever appears excessive trouble.
We will be returning once again in December and anticipate another unwinding stay.
The spaces are clean and for us the food is nice as we like the regional cuisine.
The only thing I do not like is that smokers appear to think it's acceptable to smoke in the no smoking cigarettes location however that's not the fault of the hotel that's down to the disrespect of other people remaining there who believe they're entitled to do what they wish.
Overall if you want a quiet relaxing vacation then this a charming place. You can do little walks the location which is primarily flat or you can stroll uphill, it's up to you."
" Great location to stay. Impressions on showing up were exceptional. We were greeted by the 2 best receptionists ever, Susana and Christina, and check-in was smooth and effective.
We remained in space 405 with a terrace and sea view. The room was tidy and large, consisting of a huge double bed, dressing table, armchair, and complementary toiletries. WiFi protection throughout the hotel is exceptional and fast. All personnel are respectful and useful.
The extensive beverages were all good quality brand names. The food I thought was great, however my companions were not quite so satisfied. For me, the limited choice was a reward, I need to include there were plenty of alternatives for food. The outside snack bar was extremely great, and for lunch, we chose it. The home entertainment was club vocalist quality best, with the exception of the quartet and the folk dancing.
Overall, this hotel is excellent and well worth a see. I want to thank all the staff who gave up their xmas so we could have ours. We ventured to Funchal in a taxi, set up by reception, EUR50 each method. Dropped us where we wanted and selected us up on time. The motorist Nelson Lala was remarkable sharing his understanding of his home with us. Please request this motorist as you will not be disappointed."
" One of the friendliest locations I have actually checked out. The food was as you can expect on an all inclusive holiday. We were welcomed by Susana on reception who was exceptionally inviting, went to our spaces and wow, what charming spaces they are. Tidy, spacious and fresh. The views from the terrace is sensational.
We ventured out to Funchal to the cable cars and toboggan extremely recommended, absolutely incredible experience.
We went to Funchal by taxi EUR50 each method. The taxi was reserved through Susana. Taxi driver was brilliant (Nelson) he took us to the cable cars, we organized a pick up time, and he was right on time. He used (for an additional EUR20) to stop off at the greatest cliff in Europe ... would be disrespectful not too. We didn't pay Nelson until we went back to the hotel.
Went to the harbour for lunch on Xmas eve. The food was fantastic, part sizes were something else.
The home entertainment was there I can't state it was bad but I can't state it was good either. I did have a great sing along.
The gala supper that was on Xmas eve was as I said before what you 'd expect for all inclusive. As we 'd had such a large lunch at the harbour wasn't a concern ... I do think when we booked the vacation we need to have been informed of the gala supper so we might have prepared our attire a little much better."
" Great place to remain. First thing to state is that all the staff at the hotel from top to bottom are fantastic. They could not be more helpful, enjoyable and expert. Far better than many 5 star hotels we have stayed at. Spaces are light and quite smart with BIG tidy beds and lovely cotton sheets. Food was good and varied although could have been a little hotter. All in all if you desire a relaxing stay without great deals of distractions then believe you'll enjoy this hotel very much."
