The accommodation is situated on a hillside at Fairy Hill, Portland. Melrose Cabins is a true hideaway surrounded by trees, bushes and lush jungle greenery and just two minutes walk from the beach.
The wooden cabin has rustic furnishings with a bedroom and bunk beds. There is also a basic kitchenette and stove, fridge and dining area. The accommodation also has a bathroom with a shower. There is free WiFi
In summary, we shall let the reviews of those experiencing this specialty accommodation do the talking:
'Not suitable for many. The small cabin is well away from the road and almost impossible to access unless you have a sturdy 4x4. It is not as it is portrayed on the map. At the end of the tarmac road you have to drive through forest another 10 min to find it.
The owner is very nice and friendly and arranged to meet us as after 30 mins we couldn't find the place. I would not recommend unless you want isolation. The accommodation is a tin roofed cabin with bunk beds. Stove etc.'
Having said that, many of our visitors may find this remote basic lifestyle in the middle of a forest exhilarating. So if your into living basic and locally, exploring and young at heart and on a strict budget, then try this cabin. Live in the jungle with just two minutes stroll to an unspoiled beach. We are assuming there no meals available on-site, so take plenty of provisions and of course, bug spray.
