What's known about Moon Palace Resort in Ocho Rios:

The Moon Palace is part of a chain of luxury all inclusive resorts in Mexico and one in Ocho Rios Jamaica. Its a great place for families and children. All the facilities you would expect in a family all inclusive resort. Located on the beachfront, spa and 5 outdoor swimming pools, one with a wave machine. There's even a dolphinarium where guests can swim with dolphins at an additional cost. The entrance and grounds are truly extensive and well manicured.
All spacious rooms have partial or full sea views. A mix of restaurants and bars. A kids and teens club and an adults night club. And of course all you can eat or snack all day long and a gorgeous beach just a lazy stroll away.

There are over 2000 guest reviews for Moon Palace since 2015 of which the majority are excellent. However, we see an decrease in overall ratings and increase in recent negative reviews for 2018 so far, for example;

"Bathroom below standard. Very basic bathroom for the price"
"Would not visit again. Have stayed at other Palace resorts we are a Palace member, this Palace hotel and location is not up to par with other Palace resorts"
"Disappointing. The decor, marbles and glass work do not make a 5 star hotel. The service was poor."
"I would describe it as okay. 3 Stars MAX. The Moon Palace Jamaica lacked the WOW factor that you would expect from a 5 Star Resort."

This is often a sign that something is not quite right with management co-ordination and attention to detail. Could be the only competition to Sandals on the island with being a family resort and not for adults only, but needs to up its game.
Though taking into consideration recent guest reviews for the Moon Palace and a recent guests review from Carolina last week that its starting to look more like a 3/4 star resort at 5 star prices, seems a fair comment.
We also note that anyone whose been to their Mexican resorts finds a big downturn in the Jamaican resort. But if your looking specifically at Jamaica and wish to be a little above normal 3 star resorts where kids can enjoy themselves, then Moon Palace may be just your ticket. Oh and always check there website for offers, can be some BIG savings. And we don't see many complaints about the food either.
