About Antalya.Antalya is a large busy seaside resort that is also the provincial capital of the Turkish Riviera. The place is located on a rocky plateau above the sea with long beaches on both sides. The place is centrally located on the Turkish Riviera, about 10 km from Antalya Airport and is suitable for a wide audience. People who seek both authenticity and liveliness will have the greatest pleasure in this seaside resort.Antalya is located on a rocky plateau above the sea, on a jagged coastline with steep rocks. The beaches are on both sides of the town and stretch for miles. Shoppers will be very happy with the thousands of shops in Antalya. In addition, the old part of the city has small sloping streets, an authentic Harbour and many old buildings. The new part consists mainly of residential areas and a few wide newer shopping streets. In addition, Antalya offers a vibrant nightlife, many excursion options and beautiful surroundings. Antalya has characteristic places: The old town of Antalya, called Kaleici, has many sights that can be seen during a walk through the city area. The small narrow sloping streets connect small squares and beautiful old buildings. You can see Hadrian's gate from Roman times, the Yivili Minare (minaret) which is the symbol of Antalya and several mosques. Antalya is located on a jagged coast with steep cliffs on a high rock plateau above the sea. Inland from the seaside resort becomes more rural and hilly. In the green surroundings are nature reserves and beautiful waterfalls. In the distance you can see the snow-capped peaks of the Taurus Mountains. The place borders in the east on the small seaside resort of Lara. Antalya has both a large and a small beach: The small Mermerli beach (about 75 m) mainly consists of concrete plateaus, fine gravel and sand. The seabed of the beach slopes down quickly and is covered with rocks. The beach is located on a small bay in the old part of the city and is partly surrounded by the old city wall. There is the port of Antalya. You can rent sun beds, mattresses and umbrellas. There are side tables, showers and changing cubicles. The beach is accessed through a restaurant and can only be reached after a long flight of stairs. In addition, you have to pay access. West of the center is the freely accessible Konyaalti Beach. This long beach (about 10 km!) mainly consists of gravel and is interrupted by a river bed. The seabed slopes quickly and is covered with rocks. You can rent sun beds and umbrellas on the beach. In addition, there are showers, changing cubicles, toilets and some catering facilities. For children, directly behind the beach, on the promenade, there are some play equipment. The beach has been awarded a blue environmental flag; the water and beach are therefore clean. In the vicinity of Antalya are several beautiful waterfalls. The Düden waterfalls are about 14 km from the place. The Kursunlu waterfalls can be found a little further in a breathtakingly beautiful natural park with a botanical garden. Highlights in Antalya. The town of Aspendos, located between Antalya and Side, has one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in Turkey. This theater is still in use for concerts and performances. A wonderful piece of culture at a short distance! In the characteristic harbour in the old town, both pleasure yachts and fishing boats moor here to bring their daily catch ashore. In the harbour you will find several very good fish restaurants, where the freshly caught fish is on your plate in the evening. In some cases, the fish can even be prepared at the table. The lively town of Antalya offers a cozy and vibrant nightlife. There are many bars, restaurants and terraces. In addition to Turkish specialties, the restaurants usually also have an international menu. The venues are mainly located in and around the center, the boulevard and partly along the coastal road and pleasant promenade. In the old center you will find some more expensive Turkish restaurants and specialized fish restaurants. Restaurant Cabanas in the old center of Antalya is a must. The restaurant has an outdoor area with truly spectacular views over the bay and surrounding area. The restaurant serves many Turkish specialties. Public transport in Antalya. |
