Tenerife has long been a favourite holiday destination. While years ago the black volcanic sand made it impossible to walk barefoot, over the past years most beaches have been modernised with golden sea sand. Read about Teneriffe below or check out our exclusive beach resorts in Teneriffe HERE

Tenerife:
The jewel in the crown of the Canary Islands, you can expect fresh summer breezes, ever-present sunshine and a wealth to get involved with as you wander over the delicate and vast landscapes of nature’s greatest creation.

Hideaway villages and the not so hidden Mount Teide will be the showpiece for many holidays to Tenerife, although that doesn’t mean those wishing to be more active will be without a huge amount of fun. Families will enjoy outstanding water parks and adventures, while groups of mates will dance until dawn in the party regions of the south – there’s not a lot you can’t do here.

With sun-kissed beaches and a fascinating volcanic landscape on its doorstep, holidays in Tenerife are fantastically diverse. Top up your tan on one of the beautiful black sand beaches, enjoy a night out on the town or venture inland to discover stunning vistas and hideaway villages. Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it on a Tenerife holiday.

When deciding where to stay on your Tenerife holidays you’ll be spoilt for choice, whether you head to the north or south, you’ll be well-suited by the extensive variety on show in both areas. Sun, sea and swimming can be found just about anywhere, but Playa de las Americas will leave you footsteps from the beach as well as providing numerous resorts with glorious swimming pools.

The Canary Islands are well-known for tranquillity and peace in combination with fun and adventure, although if it is a relaxing getaway you’re in search of, Costa del Silencio is the obvious choice and not just because of its name. Expect a peaceful silence among the picturesque gardens before making your way to the glistening ocean, only a stone’s throw away. Couples and families would undoubtedly make use of the first-class facilities in the resort town of Costa Adeje, whereas the little ones will fall in love with the popular Los Cristianos with its range of family attractions.

Coastal paths, mountain climbs and forest hikes are just a sample of what you can expect from Tenerife holidays. While there is an array of attraction in the form of traditional tourist ventures such as water parks, luxurious spas and a range of restaurants, there’s nothing quite like exploring the vast landscapes the island showcases in resorts such as Costa Adeje. Bold mountains in Mount Teide National Park are perhaps the most prominent view you will find when settling down within its close proximity, although being the highest point in Spain it’s certainly worth taking the opportunity for a trek.

Among the many things to do on holidays in Tenerife, make sure you set aside some time for a visit to a theme park or two. The best to be found are Loro Parque and Jungle Park Las Aguillas, although once you’re done here you may want to try dolphin watching in the surrounding seas. Catch a boat and voyage out into the waters surrounding the island and you may just be lucky enough to spot a squadron of dolphins or a pack of whales – the ultimate reward for a well-timed journey.

Golf lovers will rejoice among some of Spain’s best golf courses across the island, and while the beaches of Tenerife are world-renowned, these courses present sand pits you won’t want to get stuck into! Gold Del Sur merits a visit if you are looking to improve your game while away, and the rest of the family can entertain themselves with relaxing views overlooking the coasts of Playa de las Americas or Los Cristianos

Action and Adventure.
If you’re after a holiday with a slice of action, you won’t need to look far to find fun things to do in Tenerife. Home to one of Spain’s largest volcanoes, the island is full of volcanic treats just waiting to be discovered. Jump in a car and take a ride through Teide National Park to get up close to the Teide Volcano itself. Once you reach the centre you can either take a cable car or hike to its peak where you can expect spectacular views of the island. If you’re looking for something off the beaten track, there’s a fantastic trekking trail throughLas Montanas de Anaga. Missed by most, this stunning mountain range showcases rolling hills of lush greenery and hideaway villages that make the perfect pit stop for a spot of lunch.

Family Fun
Make sure you make time to visit one of Tenerife’s top attractions, Loro Park. Home to over 4000 parrots, an aquarium and a zoo, it’s an easy place to get lost for a day. When it’s time to cool down, Siam Park makes a great alternative to the beach. Spend the day whizzing down high speed flumes, make a splash in the water playgrounds or kick back as you float your way along the lazy river.

Culture.
Visit the island’s vibrant capital, Santa Cruz for a chance to marvel at its many architectural wonders. It’s where old definitely meets new and the futuristic design of the Auditorio de Tenerife stands out against the traditional white washed Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Candelaria. The old town of La Orotava is also a great place to visit for those who want to delve into the island’s history. At the foot of the Teide Mountain, this valley village showcases historical buildings, a beautiful botanical garden – Jardin Victoria - and a handful of intriguing museums, including The House of Balconies.
Tenerife’s second largest city, La Laguna is also well worth a visit. Declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is a charming town centre that features pastel coloured buildings and beautiful architecture. Head there for a chance to soak up a slice of local life and enjoy tucking into some tasty cuisine!

Nightlife.
As the most popular of all the Canary Islands, Tenerife is a haven for party animals. With plenty of trendy bars, beach parties and late night clubs on hand; it’s the perfect place to let your hair down after a sun-soaked day on the beach. Playa de Las Americas is the main nightlife hub where you’ll be able to dance ‘til dawn in one of the clubs or sip on a cocktail in one of the beach side huts. For those who are looking for something a little more laid back, Santa Cruz offers a more relaxed vibe in the evening. Take a seat in one of the alfresco bars and enjoy a glass of Spanish wine, or if you’re feeling lucky, take a trip to the Casino. There's everything to play for during your holiday to Tenerife!
