The Costa Brava region of Catalonia has over 28 blue flag beaches and over 80 in total across the entire region. Catalonia has four provinces: Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida and Girona.
The Catalonia coast is renowned for it lively beach resorts back dropped by the awe inspiring Pyrenees Mountains.
For holidays you have two Costa's to chose from, Costa Brava and Costa Dorada.
Costa Brava features the two tourist buzzing resorts of Tossa and Lloret de Mar with extensive sandy beaches, Though there is a wealth of locations along the coastline including quite bays and coves, fishing villages and small seaside towns.
Costa Dorada's main tourist resort is Salou which is popular with both Irish and British tourists and Spain's biggest theme park is located in the Costa Dorada. The coast is packed with clubs, bars and places to eat though if your looking for a quieter experience there are also several more relaxed resorts like La Pineda.
Catalonia has over 30 nature reserves in the more mountain areas. From river fishing to ski resorts there is a great choice and many parks. While the lower valley regions apart from being a hub of agriculture, offer a variety of experiences like golf, biking, horse riding and hiking.
Weather. During the winter the temperature is a pleasant 17 degrees while summer months 28/30 is normal. |
