"Leading hotel, specifically for a golf stay.
Leading hotel, located on cliffs down to the beach and with numerous top golf courses nearby.
if you don't want to take a taxi to among the surrounding towns with great restaurants, the buffet at the hotel is excellent, different and at a reasonable price, and end the dinner with the terrific desserts."
" Excellent and inviting beach resort near Peniche.
We remained at this Marriott resort for three nights, in a seaside view/garden space on the first level. Our space was large, and perfectly peaceful and comfortable, with exceptional bed linen. Outdoors was a small personal outdoor patio with 2 seat, and simply a brief walk to the windswept cliff walk along the ocean. The personal beach location is down a few levels of steep stairs along the cliffs. We delighted in the beautiful and substantial heated pool, indoor and outdoor bar service and dinners in both of the dining establishments. The area itself is a bit remote however the marvelously beautiful beach, ocean and multi colored sandstone cliffs more than offset this. While staying there, we visited Peniche, Obidos, Fatima and Batalha abbey. In spite of its remoteness, the Marriott provided us a practical and comfy base from which to excursion and see the sights of this area of Portugal. The staff was uniformly exceptional and headed out of their way to ensure we were well taken care of throughout our stay. They also provided us local liqueurs and cookies as parting gifts. Exceptional stay!"
" Liked this Place and Hotel.
We remained here for one night on our way back to Lisbon from the Douro Valley. This hotel is gorgeous and the view of the ocean is unbelievable. We scheduled the ocean view space and it was worth the extra expense.
The beach is a couple of steps from the hotel. The beach is well kept and a pleasure to stroll on.
We had supper at Mare seafood dining establishment which is a brief drive from the hotel. The view, food and service was exceptional. The breakfast buffet abounded and hectic! And last the front desk ladies were just so good. They clearly like their job."
" Amazing place.
top hotel fantastic service and gorgeous location to stick with you husband we loved it hope to return soon, spick-and-span location and excellent people i think was among the very best we choose in this journey took gorgeous pictures, everybody enjoyed it"
" A great place in a wonderful setitng.
This hotel is embeded in a wonderful location, beside the sea and surrounded by plant. Area is great, as it let us check out the center of Portugal. We liked that the spaces are large and spick-and-span, the breakfast has excellent choice and excellent service (Eduardo and Valter). Terrific customer support. Special thanks to General Manager - when a small problem developed, he actioned in right now and solved it. Would love to stay once again next time we come back to main Portugal."
" Good 4 star hotel at affordable rates (October).
We stayed here 4 night at the start of a 3 week driving holiday. Arriving on a dark rainy night after airport delays we were given immediate aid with the baggage and offered valet parking (gratefully accepted). The room was roomy and spick-and-span - it had definitely whatever we required with a view of the golf course and sea in the distance. Breakfast used a broad choice and bakery products were really fresh. The pool was large and peaceful sufficient to have a great swim.
In summary it was good value and service used was much superior to the supposed 5 star Penha Longa where we stayed later on.
If there is a disadvantage, it would be the large playing golf groups that tend to take control of the bar, however you can state this for a number of the 'golf' hotels."
" Very bad service.
Golf course is nice however over 6 hour rounds. No management. Enable none golf players that can not play. Inexpensive however not worth playing if you wish to play under 5 hours. No rangers on course and no aid or recommend from starter. The course enable novices groups to play and some can only hit the ball a couple of lawns. If this course was managed it could be great but the owners appear to only care about getting as numerous golf players on the course as they can. When you grumble nobody is interested. I have no idea who manages the golf course however it is a terrible experience. Pay more and play in the Algarve. The courses remain in much better condition and they have actually encouraged and experience rangers."
" No course ranger and no course management.
The golf course is constantly a wonderful place to play. However this time it took control of 5 hours to play 18 holes. There was no course ranger and the two four balls in front of us, took more time than needed at every hole. Even taking pictures while basing on the green when they completed putting out. The tee boxes were humphed and overall it felt like we remained in a marathon instead of playing a round of golf. At every hole and for every single shot we had to wait! When gone over at reception they were sorry but nobody appeared to wish to deal with the problem."
" Feels like a rather tired convention hotel.
This has the feel of a convention hotel. (which it appears it a minimum of partly is) much more than a resort hotel. The lobby is overbright and just big. The halls to the rooms are long and low From the resort side, the destination is most likely the golf - the course is supposed to be good but we did not play - and the beach (the hotel lies actions from the beach). Everything felt a bit tired. The bed mattress resembled sleeping on a rock. The food was great."
"HOW THE NEGATIVE IMPACTS THE POSITIVE.
We were a group of 28 golfers remaining at the 5 * Beachfront houses from Friday 7th till Tuesday10th October. First of all, the homes were supposed to be all twin rooms not the case 3no had a double bed in which when challenged was told it was never going to be all twin beds despite the fact that i had e-mail confirmation. They agreed put a single bed in which resembled a camp bed for a charge which later was gotten rid of. Lads slept on settee in lounge as more comfortable. We didn't understand about the traveler tax of 1 euro per person per night, however our travel business must have told us. Likewise up by the houses is the Mare dining establishment which we were going to use for breakfast as it was a minutes' leave however told is closed so we required to get the shuttle buses down to the club home each early morning. Organized shuttle for us all every day at 07.30 am remembering they just carry 8 persons we need 4no. This was a joke as just 1 bus arrived constantly after the set up time and outdoors besides our group were another 20 plus golf enthusiasts all going the exact same dining establishment. Motorist stated he was only one on at that time and one shuttle out of the 4 is used for staff. 16 of us had to stroll and bring the golf clubs to the clubhouse over a mile away as we would not make our tee time. Though still after 30 minutes stroll and carry got there prior to the others. No help from the resort reception other than to ask we complain to the Director as the shuttle bus company is a subcontract. It was the same attempting to organize returning from the golf courses waiting ages and evening time at the hotel itself everyone desiring a shuttle bus, so some lads walked back to houses. Breakfast was disorderly personnel were overwhelmed with the additional number of visitors originating from the Beachfront which suggested food ran out rapidly could not stock up in time it was more like a canteen grab and go what you can. Everybody rushing to get a shuttle to the golf courses triggered havoc. Nowhere near adequate shuttle buses to deal with the busiest time of the year and closing the restaurant contributed to it as now everybody staying at the Beachfront needed to shuttle two times to the golf courses. Every day was the same early morning and night. What ought to have been an unforgettable journey was destroyed as it was simply stress after tension chasing after up a Shuttle bus calling reception fell on deaf ears it's coming was all you might get. Attempting to get out the resort also was a difficulty taxis were totally scheduled till after 21.00 pm Uber were totally booked also handled one night to Peniche was nice. Management failed to understand its client is their support they have actually now degraded the resorts name.
So factor for my review title here's the positive Beachfront Apartments were lovely great views golf courses Royal Obidos and West Cliffs in particular were spectacular. Praia Del Rey whilst a good course was patchy on the fairways and tee boxes. Had our last night's dinner in the hotel buffet Restaurant given our own corner area for 28 with assistance from the manager and staff it was great.
When it comes to the personnel the management need to say sorry to them all for letting them take the force of all their mistakes day in day out, they tried their finest from the shuttle chauffeurs to the breakfast dining establishment personnel and the reception personnel however with no support you're going to get drained.
