Pereybere.

Located in the north, it is a place which never becomes boring – is where island life pulsates. It’s not just tourists who flock in their masses to places like Pereybere, Grand Baie and Trou aux Biches; Mauritians also like to visit, day and night.

The bus services are very good and there are many taxi drivers around who charge the same price as the buses.
From one side you can get to Cap Malheureux and from the other side you can reach Grand Baie. Like everywhere else on the island, public transport is very cheap.

But Pereybere is not just characterised by the good transport services.
There is a supermarket and many small stands, where you can go shopping. There are snack stands everywhere. You’ll also find fruit and fish sellers near the beach. And there isn’t just one stretch of beach.
The main beach is easily accessible for everyone. It is clean, the sand is fine and the lagoon glistens in the most beautiful colours under the sunlight. There are areas where you can sunbathe but also areas which are shaded. You can also hire loungers and umbrellas. Around the beach there are cafes, snack vans and sellers of all kinds. In my opinion, the kebabs here are the best in Mauritius!

If you take an adventurous wander to the left or right of this beach, you’ll come across two remote idyllic beaches. The beach to the right is narrow but the water is shallow. This is perfect for families with small children who want a bit of privacy. The beach to the left is very wide and the shallow water suddenly becomes deep. This is only suitable for those who are confident swimmers.
Tourists rarely discover these two beaches so they are quiet and never overcrowded. The water seems to be even cleaner than it is in the lagoon at the public beach. There, you’ll feel like you’re sheltered from the world and all the negativity: it is a beautiful paradise.

On the public beach everything is geared towards tourism. There are different watersport activities and catamaran tours or you can go diving or hire a pedal boat.

From simple apartments to luxury villas – you’ll find the perfect accommodation for your holiday. In the mornings, a man often drives through the streets selling mangos and pineapple or fresh fish. Just like there are ‘milk men’ in the UK, here they sell fruit and fish.

The nightlife here also has something extra to offer. In the centre of Pereybere there is Julie’s karaoke bar. However, there seems to be less karaoke and more dancing! There are also other small bars and a nightclub called Insomnia. If you can’t find what you like, there is more choice in the surrounding villages.

Whether you’re young, old, traveling with friends, as a couple or with your family: Pereybere is a paradise for everyone!
