History:
The YS estate dates back to the 17th century. There are 2 theories regarding how the estate got its name, one is that the estates first 2 owners were named John Yates and Colonel Richard Scott, by combining the initials of their surnames they created the name "YS Estate". Another theory is that the name stems from the Gaelic word "wyess", suggesting "winding".
Found on Jamaica's South Coast near the Black River in St. Elizabeth Parish, YS Falls is reasonably simple to access from locations along that coast, in addition to Negril.
