Essential Guide: What to do in Zante
Still a favourite among the Greek islands, Zante is great for families and a general winner when it comes to summer holidays. Quaint tavernas serving Greek dishes pepper the stunning coastlines, where you can also find a plethora of beaches beckoning to some much-needed lazy afternoons. If you’re planning a trip to Zante, here’s our essential guide on what to do.
Make the most of the beaches
Not that this is something that you haven’t thought of, but the beaches in Greece and especially Zante are truly something to behold. Tuck yourself into a peaceful cove such as Porto Vromi for a romantic spot away from the crowds or put your faith in the people and visit one of the busiest beaches such as Navagio.
Go to town
Head to Zante Town for shopping, great Greek food and a charming little harbour. The Church of Saint Dionisius is nice for a spot of sightseeing. The Amphitheatre is another good spot for getting a feel for the island’s history and you can finish up the perfect Greek day with a trip to one of the tavernas for a bite to eat and a refreshing drink.

Bars
Zante has a pretty upbeat nightlife compared to other islands making it a sound choice for those that like lazy days and livelier nights. Argassi’s main street is where you’ll find plenty of bars with live music, late-night restaurants and of course plenty of boards promoting that holiday essential – happy hour.
Take in the views
Like you’d expect from a Greek island, Zante offers plenty of beautiful sights. Small, ancient churches are scattered around the island if you like sightseeing or if you prefer natural beauty, how about heading to smugglers cove for spectacular sea views atop the white cliffs? Another popular (and rather romantic) spot for a lovely view is Keri Lighthouse which has been dubbed as the best place to see the sunset. |
