Tent and Glamping Holidays
Camping breaks and holidays attract hundreds of millions of people with tents each year. I've done it myself with the whole family many years ago and true to say, its a whole differently unique experience.
Camping has some wonderful feelings of getting back to life's basics, from the nature connection, sat around cooking and eating from campfires and bbq's or the sunrise from a hilltop, there aren't many better feelings than camping.
I've camped in a small tent on a remote hillside in the Lake District alongside a stream, which we used to wash the plates after cooking and the toilet was as nature intended, under a well deserving tree. At the opposite end was a holiday at a camping site in France with a massive family tent. Being the first time I had erected this brand new and complex tent, there was confusion especially having driven all day to get there. But that camping community spirit kicked in and before long there were local French campers helping me, even though I knew no French and they no English. It was a truly exclusively unique experience.
These days, while those remote places are still as popular for campers, many camping sites are now considerably more modern and some with luxury onsite facilities such as swimming pools, hot tubs etc.
But there is a new type of camping rapidly gaining popularity. Its a kind of cross between a tent and wood cabin and called 'Glamping' derived from 'glamorous camping'. Glamping is about giving campers the experience of nature without having to pack and set up all the camping gear. This new luxury glamping style of holidays use tree houses, pods, luxury tents, yurts, shepherd's huts and there's even converted London buses!
There's no doubt a glamping holiday gives all of the upsides of tent camping but in a very easy stress free way. Its still camping but with some creature home comforts. And a bonus for owners of our best friend animal, many Glamping locations allow dogs. Simple Glamping can be a cozy structure with power, lighting, heating, microwaves, fridges, WiFi, running water and a real bed to sleep in. At the other end there can be pure luxury with beautiful furnishings and private bathrooms. There's a lot to choose from of warm and toasty Glamping retreats whatever the time of year.
