While it'll be impossible to tick off each and every market during your Winter break in Berlin, it is worth exploring a variety of the festive sites, all displaying their own original charm and appeal between the 23rd of November and 31st of December. Charlottenburg Castle is arguably the most magical of all the Christmas markets, boasting a romantic vibe among 150 vendors in the shadow of the stunning castle.
Gendarmenmarkt is another fabulous market location hosting wood carvers and stone masons, while Potsdamer Platz boasts Winter World with its ice rink and huge toboggan run. Elsewhere however, you will be able to enjoy the Christmas market of Munich, a fantastic German celebration of the classic winter festivities.
Officially the Xmas markets in Berlin run from mid November to beginning of January, though the smaller more local ones only open during the festive week. If you cant do the Xmas period but still want to experience the wonders of Christmas and the markets in Berlin then we recommend mid December.
