About Ashdown Forest:An area of open heathland located in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England. It covers an area of approximately 6,500 acres and is the largest free public access space in the South East of England. The forest is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including heather, gorse, and a wide range of bird species. It is also home to several ancient trees, including oak and beech trees. Ashdown Forest is popular with walkers, cyclists, and horse riders, and there are a number of trails that run through the forest. The forest is also home to several small villages, including Forest Row, Hartfield, and Coleman's Hatch. The forest is known as the setting for A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh stories, and a statue of Winnie-the-Pooh can be found in Pooh Corner, near the village of Hartfield. |
