A beautiful escape
The lodge itself is beautiful. It's decorated to a very high standard and has lots of little luxuries, like the hot tub! The weather outside is freezing but the lodge is lovely and cosy. The bed is the comfiest best I've ever slept in and the pillows are so fluffy and soft! We're here with our dog, Lyla and having the secured decking is a huge bonus. Outside of the decking there are acres and acres of land to go for beautiful winter walks with a lake to walk around as well.

Fantastic dog friendly lodge!
Upon arrival we were highly impressed with the space in the lodge and the privacy and tranquillity. The position of this lodge at the end of a row of 5 gives the most seclusion. A short walk away is the lake which was amazing - both dogs spent the afternoon swimming in the lake and we joined them with our kayak.

Wakes Colne is a small village located in the county of Essex, in the east of England. It is situated in a rural area and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with many footpaths and bridleways for walking and cycling. The village is home to a number of local businesses and amenities, including a pub, a post office, and a village hall. The nearest larger town to Wakes Colne is Colchester, which is located about 10 miles to the east. The village is named after the Wakes Colne Priory, which was a monastery that was founded in the 12th century. The priory is now a ruin and is not open to the public.
