"Very dated and in pretty bad shape. I’m not especially particular, but I would not recommend this to anyone. Although beds were clean and floor swept, there was grime everywhere. Windows don’t close, drawers can barely be opened. There is the Most uncomfortable furniture in the living room"
"Definitely will not go back. We only love the beach. Where do I begin...The rooms were very dated and filthy, stains everywhere, dirty windows covered with dead bugs and a greasy film. No TV, no WiFi, no phones. The villa smelled awful like a mixture of sewage and mildew. everything was rusted"
"Best to getaway trip ever. I have seen some horrible reviews and I almost did not book here. Its best if you experience this resort for yourself. I stayed in Villa 11"
"Worst hotel ever! No hot water, no TV, no phone and a long walk to the office especially at night in the rain, resort roads are very rough...this resort should not be accepting guests at any price"
"Property Nature Lovers Delight. At Night The Ancient Trees and Darkness lends a Spooky, Ghostly Atmosphere. As Though Eyes Watching. No lights in the vast property. Villas need to be Upgraded"
"One of the island's most beautiful locations... Rooms need to be updated, but so worth being here."
"Beautiful surroundings and beautiful beach but the accommodation was very old and tired. We saw three villas and they were all in different states of disrepair. I am not sure what would be a fair price for the accommodation, as I would simply describe it as substandard"
"While living in Jamaica, I decided to visit Frenchman's cover, so I rented one of the villas. They have two rates, one for locals and another for non-Jamaicans (substantially higher). Upon arrival, I realized that the place belonged to the 1960's and everything had stopped there, including cleaning of the property. I would never return there....such a filthy place!"

As you may note from the guest reviews, there's a mixed response though in general all agree that the buildings are in disrepair and in dire need of refurbishment. Though even the most negative of reviews praise the location, gardens and beach. We also note that since the first reviews in 2004, which then were excellent, there's been a gradual degeneration to more negative recent reviews. So if your not fussy about the building and more interested in superb settings and locations, then Frenchman's is worth considering. Room rates also depend on whether your a local Jamaican or Foreigner, which like the building, is an outdated practice. In a nutshell as one guest said, "GORGEOUS OUTDOORS, SUBSTANDARD INDOORS"
We gave the Frenchman's Cove a three star purely on its fantastic location.
